Wonderful!

And by wonderful, I mean wonderful! Yup, I'm talking about something none of you have probably heard of.

CCIRA.
You see, CCIRA stands for Cecil Council International Reading Association. Every year they hold an... event? I don't know what the "event" was called, but Eve, Jane, and I all have been invited. Mom forgot though, and Jane was unable to go, but I think it's an honor to be recognized anyway. There are kids from 1st grade to 12th grade, and there is a Literacy Lotto where you can buy raffle tickets for books. There is a writing workshop and a little thing where you bring a piece of writing and share it. And there is a real author there! The author was Allison Whittenberg, who writes wonderful YA romance novels. And by wonderful, here I mean really weird. Like in one, where a fifteen-year-old girl falls in love with a seventy-two-year-old. And the "modern Romeo and Juliet story set in Philadelphia", Tutored (Random House, 2010). She told us to come up with an "elevator summary" for a story. Mine was, "Good and bad race through the galaxy to save the world." The evil aliens would try to do it so that everyone would call them heroes and they could brainwash them. The good humans are trying to stop them.

Needless to say, she didn't like it at all.

Still, it was fun, and I just wanted to tell you about it. I guess this is the end of this post, unless you want to read the story I brought there, which I put into the Story page. See ya!

  1. Sounds very interesting! I'm glad that you have such writers in your family. Readers are all different and one person's opinion is just that -- one person's reaction. Don't get discouraged and be sure you keep on writing. I can tell -- even by the posts you write, that you are showing a lot of improvement. You have great and original ideas! Love, Grammie
